New Leader Onboarding

The first 100 days on the job are critical to the success of any new school leader. Whether your new leadership role is a move within your existing school, or requires you to join a new school, there is much to learn in your new role. New leader onboarding will help you transition more successfully by avoiding the pitfalls that derail so many leaders going through change. As with everything we do at EdView Consulting, our new leader onboarding program is customized to meet the needs of each school leader. We do not believe in a one-size-fit-all approach to providing support. Your customized program begins as we identify focus areas unique to your new position.

Examples of focus areas include:

  • Conducting a quick needs assessment

  • Reaching out to key stakeholders and garnering support for your vision

  • Assembling a new leadership team

  • Aligning your leadership philosophy with school/district expectations

  • Meeting and setting expectations with a comprehensive strategy

How does it work?

EdView's new leader onboarding process begins with a complimentary consultation to discuss the specifics of the onboarding program and your needs. After we determine we are a good fit, we work in partnership to develop your customized onboarding plan. Your plan may include, but is certainly not limited to:

  • An initial meeting to discuss the coaching engagement expectations

  • Outlining your goals and objectives, along with measures of success

  • Interviews with key stakeholders who can provide background on school environment

  • Meeting to discuss findings from stakeholder interviews

  • Development of 30-60-90 day action plans

  • Coaching sessions held 2-4 per times per month

  • Unlimited access to email and phone support

  • Measurement of progress

The advantages of new leader onboarding:

  • Cultivates new leader engagement

  • Accelerates transition and learning

  • Assists with development of first year goals

"

Michael Gaither has been a tremendous support to me in my first year as a high school principal in an urban district. He is not only knowledgeable about instruction and data analysis, but also very informed about changing the culture of a school. Michael is able to assess a situation and provide clear next steps, that are effective and research based. His breadth of experience as a teacher, principal, and district office director give him a very unique perspective. Working beside a leader with Michael’s experience is exactly what I needed to take my school to a new level. There is no doubt that I will continue to use his services as I continue to grow as a school leader.
